Things going on...
- MORS.org is getting a new, professional webpage that will render the services and information we're used to finding on that site. Additional functionality will include lots of professional development material, and a few neat surprizes. Look for it to field in the Fall.
- MORSNet.org (this site) is where we're going to experiment with Member-driven collaboration. Let's find out what's really useful before we spend big bucks.
- LinkedIn now has a MORS group with over 100 members.
- The Strategic Communications initiative will use the Net as a medium.
The "Holy Grail" is the latest spreadsheet showing the structure of the new mors.org page

MORS on SIPR has Two Lines of Investigation
A. HOSTING
Have cracked the code on SIPR sites and usage, and I have arrived at a pair of options for hosting/portal services:
1. Glom onto the effort of JDS (OSD(PA&E)SAC) Analysis Community site
2. Use Defense Knowledge Online (DKO, formerly ArmyKO) and their Sharepoint implementation
Each will require cooperation from a host, and I expect both to be amenable to MORS. There are a number of options I rejected due to anticipated red tape or required plug-ins at the workstation. Either option could allow us to produce a working site in a few weeks with a little work.
B. REQUIREMENTS
Mark Gallagher's Use Case
In determining requirements, perhaps we could brainstorm "a net-centric
approach to analysis". I envision a website that analysts would login to
right after reading the early bird. An analysts could post
- Senior leader questions
- Calls for related studies
- Requests for models or data
- Invitation to collaborate on studies
- Request for experts
- Questions on methodologies or appraches
- Provide interim results for review
- Archieve completed study tools and results
Other analysts could
- respond to these requests
- input suggestions or comments
MORS Workshop questions and output would also be posted here.
These discussions could be open to the entire MORS or limited, such as
service only.
This approach is beyond communities of practice, which focus in an single
application area. Many more analysis issues could be addressed at the
secret, rather than the unclassified level.

DCO
Defense Connect Online is a DISA-sponsored prototype collaboration suite. Mark G is using it as a medium for meetings for the MORS Net & Cyber Workshop. Get an account (ahead of time) and join the meeting at https://connect.dco.dod.mil/cyber

Chatter
6/30
Wiki proliferation: Last week's priv discussion has lead to Mark Gallagher going out on his own to get a separate wiki for the CYBER conference. These cost ~$12/month, so Mark's usage could cost $60 for the 5 months running up to his workshop. This is an insignificant amount in the grand scheme, and saves the MORS staff all sorts of headaches. Is this a way of doing business we can use indefinitely? In my opinion, mors.org is (should) never going to be member-editable to the extent that an off-board wiki will be.
What do you think? Mike.

Is this comment section for "chatter"? Regarding wiki access, what about access to non-MORS members that register to attend the meeting? Can additional individuals be given admin priviledges to share your nasty management task? Very Respectfully, Mark
